Message by Chairman, Organising Committee for 10th APCDLP

The NUH Foot Team is delighted to host the 10th Asia Pacific Conference on Diabetic Limb Problems (APCDLP). 2013 is the 10th anniversary of both the Asia Pacific Association of Diabetic Limb Problems (APADLP) and the NUH Diabetic Foot Team.
NUH pioneered the Inaugural APCDLP in Nov 2004 (Dr Nather as Founding President). The 2nd Conference was held in Putrajaya, Malaysia (2005), the 3rd in Ancor, Jakarta (2006) and the 4th in Hong Kong (2007). The 5th Conference (2008), in NUH witnessed the launch of “Diabetic Foot Problems. A. Nather (ed.)”. The 6th Conference continued in Beijing, China (2009), the 7th in Kuantan, Malaysia (2010), the 8th in Bandung, Indonesia (2011) and the 9th in Hong Kong (2012).
For this prestigious event, we have garnered an international faculty of 17 experts from the region in addition to 27 local experts. The event is organised as a one-day Nursing Certificate Course on Management of Diabetic Foot Wounds followed by 2 days of the main conference. Highlights include 6 Plenary Lectures and 6 Symposia. We are also introducing for the first time a Young Investigator and a Poster Paper Award to promote more participation from our young professionals. I am glad to report that the response has been encouraging.
The Nursing Conference has attracted some 200 delegates. Local participants include nurses from hospitals and polyclinics as well as advanced diploma course students and student nurses from Nanyang Polytechnic, Ngee Ann Polytechnic and ITE East. In addition, participants include nurses from Malaysia and Indonesia.
We would like to thank our Gold Sponsors – Smith & Nephew, KCI, Convatec and other sponsors for their continued support.
We would also like to thank Professor Benjamin Ong for kindly accepting to be our Guest of Honour for the Opening Ceremony. A new book “The Diabetic Foot”, produced by the NUH Team, will also be launched in this event.
I wish all delegates an enjoyable and productive time in this conference.
